Privacy and analytics choices

Updated 31 October 2026. This page covers the Carfect site hosted at this address.

Vehicle lookup

Your browser sends the searched plate to RDW Open Data to retrieve the record. Carfect does not create a user account or save the plate in an analytics event. Results stay in tab memory for five minutes. Comparison URLs contain plates: anyone you share the link with can see them. Hosting providers may process ordinary request logs, including requested URLs.

Optional Google Analytics

Google Analytics loads only after you choose Allow analytics. We measure page visits, successful lookups, completed comparisons, changes to valid cost scenarios, successful link copying, export actions, guide-to-tool clicks and retailer clicks. Page paths are restricted to known site pages; query strings and fragments are removed. Referrer paths and queries are removed. We do not send plate numbers, vehicle records, input amounts or free-form search text to Analytics. For AI referrals, we recognise only exact ChatGPT, Gemini and Claude source domains or allowlisted utm_source values and send a fixed source label. These signals can be absent or spoofed; they do not prove a recommendation.

After consent, Google may receive ordinary network metadata such as your IP address and browser information and set Analytics cookies. Advertising storage, advertising personalisation and Google Signals are disabled. No paid advertising is running. Enhanced automatic measurements are disabled; tool events are explicitly defined. A retailer click is not a confirmed purchase or commission.

Your choice

Decline analytics to use all vehicle tools without optional measurement. Your choice is stored locally for up to 180 days. Use Privacy settings in the footer to change it. Withdrawing consent stops further collection and removes this site's accessible Analytics cookies; it does not remove data already processed by Google. Analytics reports describe consenting visitors and can undercount total usage.

GA4 event data retention is initially the property's default setting. The retention period and data handling are described in the linked Google documentation. We do not add user IDs or enable ad integrations.

Retail links

Opening a retailer takes you to that retailer's site and privacy terms. Current retail links are ordinary links and earn Carfect no commission. Affiliate links will be labelled if enabled later.

New calculators and measurement

The Polish consumption and Spanish trip tools run locally without a login. Successful calculations use the existing consent-gated country calculation events, distinguished by fixed service types. Numeric inputs and URL fragments are excluded. Country labels describe service use, not visitor residence.

Public read-only AI tools

The optional MCP interface processes the plate or numerical assumptions supplied through your AI client. Dutch plates are sent to the official RDW public datasets for lookup. Cost-tool calculations run on Carfect hosting, unlike the browser-only website calculators. A technical RDW result may be cached in server memory for up to five minutes. The tools do not write inputs to the first-party visitor analytics dataset, access private owner monitoring, read recordings, or return owner identities or API credentials. Hosting providers and your chosen AI service may process ordinary request logs under their policies.

European tools and country measurement

Cost calculations run in your browser; entered distance, consumption, amounts and station search text are not sent to Google Analytics. A French town/postcode search is sent directly to data.economie.gouv.fr. Spanish station queries download the MITECO dataset and filter it locally. These providers receive ordinary network metadata. External official-service links open the provider website.

After analytics consent, country-page visits, successful cost calculations, successful station searches (including empty results), and official-service link clicks have separate allowlisted events per service country. Service country describes the tool used, not visitor nationality or residence. The 30-day experiment uses the fixed experiment label europe_30d_v1. Events with a qa_ prefix are verification traffic and excluded from experiment tool-use totals. Reports undercount visitors who decline measurement. No account or contact information is needed to use the tools.

Private support reports

The optional support form stores your selected topic, report text, random receipt ID and submission time in Carfect’s private cloud inbox. Do not send personal data, account credentials, payment details, health information, attachments or full chat transcripts. The form does not request an email address or phone number. Only the authenticated owner can read reports. Reports are removed after 30 days during incoming submissions or the hourly cloud review; a provider outage may delay removal until the next successful review. The inbox is capped at 50 retained reports and five submissions per hour. No report content is placed in public pages, visitor analytics or recordings by this form. You can reference your receipt ID in a follow-up report to request removal.

First-party statistics and optional recordings

After analytics consent, Carfect also collects usage statistics on its own hosting infrastructure: known page, service country, fixed action names, duration/performance values, technical-failure categories and referrer origin. We do not store IP addresses, raw error messages or input values in this monitoring dataset. Hosting providers still process ordinary network logs.

Masked session recording requires a separate unchecked opt-in in Privacy settings. Existing analytics consent does not imply recording consent. Locally hosted rrweb software reconstructs layout, clicks and scrolling. All captured text and form values are masked; vehicle and station-result areas are blocked. A second sanitizer on the server removes scripts, external URLs and free text. This is not camera or microphone capture. Recording data stays on Carfect hosting and is not sent to a new third-party recording service. Google Analytics remains a separate consent-gated service.

Recordings are limited to 10 minutes and 450KB per recorded page visit, at most 50 recorded page visits and 500 first-party measured page visits daily. Limits can undercount usage; GA4 has separate reporting. QA is labelled and excluded by default. Records older than 30 days cannot be read through the monitoring API; storage cleanup runs during maintenance and new sessions. Private monitoring APIs require the management key. Declining or withdrawing consent stops future monitoring uploads and clears unsent recordings; this does not erase data already sent. Change choices using Privacy settings.

Basic server request statistics

Carfect counts ordinary page requests and public AI-tool responses in daily totals on its own hosting. This adds no browser script, cookie, local-storage identifier or fingerprint. The statistics do not store IP addresses, referrers, raw browser headers, query strings, plates, entered amounts or individual request timestamps. Existing hosting/network logs remain separate.

Totals use only the known page or tool and service country; this is not visitor location. Known bots and prefetches are filtered; QA is separate. Counts are requests, not unique people or sessions, and may include owner visits and unidentified bots. Browser-only calculations and direct external station searches are not visible to this counter. Counts are capped at 5,000 requests per UTC day including QA and may undercount after the cap, storage failures or concurrent writes. Daily aggregates are read for 30 days; cleanup runs during the existing cloud review and may be delayed by an outage. No data is shared with an advertising service. Optional GA4, detailed usage and recordings continue to require their existing consent choices.

Cross-border vehicle comparisons

For the optional Czech technical check, your VIN is sent via Carfect to the Czech Ministry of Transport public API only after you request the lookup and confirm the transfer. The API key stays on the server. Carfect does not cache Czech VIN requests or save VINs in its quota records; these contain request counts, time windows and temporary safety leases only. Returned Czech output excludes VINs, registration documents, owner identities, owner/operator counts and free-text notes. Technical source strings are not an ownership, accident, insurance-claim, mechanical-condition or current-registration report. Providers and ordinary hosting network infrastructure may process their own request logs. Czech fields are not added to analytics and the VIN/result areas are blocked from optional recordings.

Plate, VIN and live model/fleet searches are sent to Carfect and the selected official provider (RDW, U.S. NHTSA, U.S. EPA / DOE or Finnish Traficom) for the requested lookup, with bounded five-minute in-memory response caching. Searches and identifiers are excluded from analytics. No owner identity is requested. Cost assumptions remain in this page unless exported. EEA benchmarks, ADEME French references, UK VCA Euro6 references, Swiss ASTRA type-approval references and the limited Safety Gate snapshot are public reference data served by Carfect. ADEME and VCA brand/model filtering runs in this page after the snapshot loads; selections are not sent to ADEME or VCA. German KBA HSN/TSN and type-name filtering runs locally after its complete published reference snapshot loads from Carfect; queries are not sent to KBA. Its counts describe registered source populations at a stated date, not individual vehicles. Swiss make/model/variant filtering runs locally after a selected brand file loads from Carfect; selections are not sent to ASTRA. Swiss reference data excludes VIN prefixes, business identifiers, manufacturer addresses/locations and free-text remarks. Finnish queries select technical fields only, excluding VIN prefix, location, mileage, registration dates and identity. Reference matches do not establish an individual vehicle identity/history. Country selections describe the scenario, not visitor location. Recordings remain separately opt-in, masked, with vehicle and source-result areas blocked.
