Sources and calculation methodology
Checked 31 October 2026. Carfect is an independent vehicle-information tool, not RDW and not a vehicle inspector.
Vehicle records
The browser requests vehicle registration (m9d7-ebf2), fuel (8ys7-d773), recorded defects (a34c-vvps) and defect descriptions (hx2c-gt7k) directly from RDW Open Data. Results show retrieval time and are cached in the tab for five minutes. Refresh requests fresh data. Additional datasets can fail while the main record remains available.
Missing information
An empty defect response is not a clean-history certificate. Public mileage judgement is not a complete odometer series. Historical defects are not current diagnoses. There is no owner identity, accident-claim history, verified resale valuation or parts-fitment guarantee. Catalogue price is historical catalogue price.
Cost scenarios
Annual energy cost = annual kilometres / 100 × consumption per 100 km × energy unit price. The plate tool adds 12 × the monthly amount entered by the user. It does not automatically estimate insurance, road tax, maintenance, depreciation or financing. The guide calculator is fuel-only. Available official consumption is a starting assumption; real driving may differ. A manual electric scenario is not a measured battery-health result.
Editorial process
Guides link to the primary source for factual claims and use original worked examples. Carfect is the named editorial author; no fictional expert, testimonial or rating is used. The first guides were prepared with AI assistance and checked against the linked sources. Search-result research indicates questions and competition; it does not establish keyword volumes or market demand.

Trip and measured-consumption tools
Distance is entered manually. Trip mode optionally doubles one-way distance and repeats the full trip the entered number of times monthly. Monthly/yearly modes use total entered distance and tolls for that period. Recurring estimates assume 12 identical months. Only entered additional monthly costs are added. Polish measured consumption = litres / driven kilometres × 100; cost per 100 km multiplies that by the entered price. Data can be transferred to the Polish comparison in a URL fragment, which stays in the browser and is not included in analytics.

European price tools
Country tools compare two fuel-cost scenarios using dated national averages from the European Commission Weekly Oil Bulletin (CC BY 4.0, European Union), divided by 1,000 from EUR/1000 L. Czech, Polish and Hungarian examples convert these averages using dated ECB reference rates, not retail exchange rates. Source dates and conversion rates appear on each page. Prices are editable; averages over 14 days old are not prefilled. Annual fuel cost = kilometres / 100 × consumption × price; annual total adds 12 × the monthly amount entered. The result excludes every cost not entered, including depreciation. Source prices may describe different petrol blends from the separate station feeds.
France station searches query the official DGCCRF / Ministry of Economy API by town or postcode, limit 100 records. Only available positive prices updated within seven days are shown, with at most 15 displayed sorted by price. This is not a claim to cover all nearby stations. Spain downloads the public MITECO feed and filters municipality/locality or postcode in the browser, displaying at most 15 sorted results. Its displayed date belongs to the feed, not an individual station update. Station data can be delayed; verify at the pump.
The European country pages do not retrieve foreign vehicle registration histories. Official check links are separate services with their own requirements. The Dutch RDW tool remains available. Choose your country.
